St. Oswald church
The pilgrimage church dating back to the 13th century, consecrated to St. Oswald, is located in the centre of Seefeld. Due to the stream of pilgrims following the ‘host miracle’, Duke Frederick commissioned the expansion of the church in 1425, finished under Sigmund der Münzreiche (‘rich in coin’) in 1474. St. Oswald is among Tyrol’s most beautiful late Gothic church buildings. The wonderful tympanum relief along the main portal tells the story of the host miracle even today.
The construction of Seefeld’s landmark, the Seekirchl (‘little church by he lake’), also called Heiligkreuzkirche (‘church of the holy cross’) was started in 1629 under Archduke Leopold V and finished in 1666. The little church is one of Tyrol’s rare octagonal Baroque churches with centralised architecture and a dome.
The centuries-old structure of the building with its up to 1.5m thick walls between the 98 rooms guarantees quietness and privacy.
The suites partly feature an open fireplace, a four-poster bed and bathrooms with genuine Swarovski crystals. On the way to your room along the wide former monastery corridor you are accompanied by frescoes up to 380 years of age, depicting Seefeld’s host miracle.
