A hike with an herbal twist

Understanding the power of nature

They smell divine, taste delicious, and have healing powers. Native mountain herbs are the beating heart of our garden, as well as the meadows beyond.

What’s a delicious meal without the right herbs? Or a relaxing massage without the perfect blend of essential oils?

At the Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld, our herb garden contributes something truly special to every part of your stay, from fresh flavours in our cuisine to herbal infusions in the spa to outdoor adventures in the Tyrolean mountains. Our guests don’t just leave feeling relaxed and refreshed; they also take home a deeper knowledge of herbs, herbal salts, and incense. Join our “herb fairies”, Andrea and Nadine, on a guided herb hike and uncover the secrets of how Alpine herbs are grown, cared for, and used in everything from traditional healing to energising spa rituals.
Just behind the hotel, on Parish Hill, our herb garden flourishes with wild and medicinal herbs, each with its own unique properties. Arnica soothes bumps and bruises, gentian aids digestion, and ribwort plantain relieves insect bites. But we won’t reveal all our secrets just yet – come visit us and you’ll return home with a bit of herbal know-how, practical wellness tips, and a deeper connection to nature’s remedies. For those with a creative spark, there’s even the chance to learn how to make incense blends and tinctures the traditional way.

But the magic doesn’t end with our guided herb hike! At the Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld, herbs aren’t just a garnish; they’re part of our daily life. Our philosophy? Homemade is always best. Most of the food we serve and ingredients we use come from our own cultivation – not just the herbs, but also the jams, eggs, and potatoes. Everything is prepared with care and rooted in tradition.
Who knows, perhaps our love of herbs will inspire you to start your own home garden. Even a humble kitchen windowsill can be the beginning of something wonderful. Basil, rosemary, dill, thyme… can you smell the fragrant possibilities?
