Four springtime routes in Tyrol
Which hike suits you best?
The sun warms the Seefeld Plateau, and the mountain streams are gathering force: the trails around the Karwendel are calling!
You can feel it in the air: the days are growing longer, your energy is returning, and something in you wants to head outside – in search of open views, fresh air, and higher ground. Set at 1,200 metres above sea level, the Seefeld Plateau is made for exactly that feeling. With more than 650 kilometres of walking trails, it offers endless directions to roam to welcome spring at your own pace. Here are four routes for four different moods, all close to the Hotel Klosterbräu. One of them is bound to be just right for you.
The Three Lakes Circuit for lovers of quiet beauty
You love stillness, simplicity, and the kind of beauty that reveals itself in the details. This walk leads you from Lake Möserer via Lake Lottensee to Lake Wildmoossee in around three hours. Along the way, three lakes reflect three distinct moods, while views of the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges appear again and again between the trees. Lake Lottensee is a periodic karst lake that emerges in spring as the snow begins to melt – one of the region’s most fascinating natural phenomena. The route is easy going, yet full of quiet impact.
The Brunschkopf for panoramic souls
For you, it’s about that one moment when everything opens: the sky, the horizon, the feeling of freedom. In around three hours, this 8.7-kilometre route leads to the Brunschkopf viewing platform, one of the most spectacular vantage points in the region. Here, the Wetterstein, the Karwendel, and the entire Seefeld Plateau stretch out before you. With 310 metres of ascent and a moderate level of difficulty, the walk feels rewarding without ever becoming overwhelming.
The Gleirschklamm Gorge for adventurous spirits
You are drawn to the wilder side of spring – rushing water, dramatic scenery, and trails that feel just that little bit risky. Near Scharnitz, the Gleirschklamm Gorge reveals itself as one of the Karwendel’s most unspoilt gorges. Still something of an insider tip, it remains freely accessible. In spring, the force of the meltwater makes for an especially impressive, roughly three-hour walk. Sure-footedness and sturdy footwear are essential.
The Wetterstein mountain hut for the ambitious
You like to set off early and earn your mountain moments. The climb to the Wetterstein mountain hut involves around 600 metres of ascent and takes about an hour and a half. From around late May, a terrace awaits you there, surrounded by flowering mountain meadows, with rushing streams running close by. Up here, spring feels sharper, fresher, and somehow more intense – as though the season was made for you alone.
Back at the Klosterbräu, you can mull over the day’s impressions as the warmth of the pools, the scent of old wood, and the silence of the 500-year-old walls bring the day to a gentle close. And somewhere in that deep sense of ease, the anticipation of tomorrow’s adventure is already growing.
Dear Klosterbräu Family,
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to EVERYONE for the countless messages and the incredible outpouring of support. Please know that we are all safe.
A very special thank you goes to the emergency responders, who with great courage, tireless dedication, and so much heart fought to save most of Hotel Klosterbräu.
As soon as we know more, we will of course be in touch again.
