On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 7:05 PM, a fire broke out in the roof structure of the hotel. At the time of the incident, the hotel was closed as planned for the seasonal break.

The fire resulted in a major emergency operation involving several hundred firefighters — at times, around 400 emergency personnel were on site, some battling the flames for more than 14 hours. On April 14 at around 10:00 AM, the fire department was finally able to declare the fire extinguished. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The investigation into the cause of the fire has now been completed. However, no definitive cause could be determined. What is certain is that the fire originated in the construction area, specifically in the ceiling section of the second floor. Demolition and construction work had been carried out there by several companies. Arson has been ruled out.

Although the damage is significant, the LARGEST part of the hotel could be saved — including the soul of the house, the historic vaults, the main building, the restaurants and kitchen, the wellness area, and the wine cellar.

At the time of the fire, the hotel was closed due to ongoing construction work.

Although we are working with a large part of our regular team and excellent construction companies, we will only be able to reopen in early winter, or at the latest on Tuesday, December 1, 2026.

However, we are working towards an earlier reopening date, and you will receive updates via all common information channels.

Since the fire, we have reorganized our thoughts, ideas, and visions. From this, our 5th passion project was born: PHOENIX.

With great passion and creative energy, we are working to make your Klosterbräu even more unique, special, and full of experiences — while always preserving the familiar signature and soul of the Seyrling family.

Something new is being created — while at the same time, everything that truly defines the heart of the Klosterbräu will remain.

Despite all challenges, we will open our Bräukeller restaurant as a pop-up restaurant named PHOENIX for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (from July 1, 2026 until approximately early November).

Our Reitherjoch Alm will be open from June 19 until approximately mid-October 2026.

Should you still decide to spend your holiday in our region this summer, we will offer exclusive guided tours of our construction site. 

These tours will take place weekly during July, August, and September – exclusively for Klosterbräu guests and their friends.
