As we have recently received an increasing number of questions, we have decided to provide the most frequently asked questions and answers here in one place. This allows our guests to stay informed about the current situation at any time in a clear and convenient way.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 7:05 PM, a fire broke out in the roof structure of the hotel. At the time of the incident, the hotel was closed as planned for the seasonal break.

The fire resulted in a major emergency operation involving several hundred firefighters — at times, around 400 emergency personnel were on site, some battling the flames for more than 14 hours. On April 14 at around 10:00 AM, the fire department was finally able to declare the fire extinguished. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The investigation into the cause of the fire has now been completed. However, no definitive cause could be determined. What is certain is that the fire originated in the construction area, specifically in the ceiling section of the second floor. Demolition and construction work had been carried out there by several companies. Arson has been ruled out.

How extensive is the fire damage?

Although the damage is significant, the LARGEST part of the hotel could be saved — including the soul of the house, the historic vaults, the main building, the restaurants and kitchen, the wellness area, and the wine cellar.

At the time of the fire, the hotel was closed due to ongoing construction work.

Is the hotel currently open?

As announced, we closed the hotel on April 6. The plan had been to reopen for the summer season on June 4.

As difficult as this is for us: according to the current situation, we unfortunately will not be able to welcome you during the upcoming summer season.

At this stage, we are planning to reopen the hotel on December 1, 2026.

We are doing everything possible — with full commitment, day by day — to make this reopening date achievable. Over the course of the summer, we will be able to better assess whether this timeline can be maintained.

What happens to my current booking for the summer season?

If your booking or inquiry falls within this renovation period, we would like to offer you the following options:

Would you like to leave your deposit with us and support us during this time?
As a heartfelt thank you, we guarantee you the same rate for a booking in the same travel period in 2027 and in the same room category.
(Of course, you do not need to commit to a new date today.)

OR

Would you prefer to take some more time before deciding?
That is completely understandable — please take all the time you need.

OR

Can’t you already wait to return to the newly restored Klosterbräu?
We would be delighted to welcome you back from December 1 onward, or at any other time of your choosing. We would also be happy to send you a non-binding offer for your future stay already now.

Would you prefer a refund of your deposit?
Of course, we will gladly refund it to you. For this, we kindly ask you to provide us with your IBAN, as a refund via the credit card terminal is unfortunately not technically possible at the moment.

What happens to the deposit I have already paid?

As your booking or inquiry falls within this renovation period, we would like to offer you the following options:

When will the hotel reopen?

According to the current situation, we unfortunately will not be able to welcome you for the upcoming summer season. However, our major goal is to reopen the Klosterbräu on December 1, 2026.

We are doing everything possible — with full commitment, day by day — to make this reopening date achievable. Over the course of the summer, we will be able to better assess whether this timeline can be maintained.

Will the renovation work continue?

YES!!

Alongside the necessary reconstruction work, we will also bring our planned PASSION PROJECTS to life.

These include the expansion of the wellness area, a new natural swimming pond, new nature-inspired double rooms and suites, as well as the renovation of the existing spa area.

Since the fire, we have reorganized our thoughts, ideas, and visions. From this, our 5th passion project was born: PHOENIX.

With great passion and creative energy, we are working to make your Klosterbräu even more unique, special, and full of experiences — while always preserving the familiar signature and soul of the Seyrling family.

Something new is being created — while at the same time, everything that truly defines the heart of the Klosterbräu will remain.

Because we know:
What truly lives within the Klosterbräu cannot be taken away by fire — carried by its history, new beauty rises from the ashes.
