From a gentle warm-up to the crowning glory of the Alps

Autumn on the Seefeld Plateau: three routes, each with a unique character, one starting point – the Klosterbräu.

The Klosterbräu and autumn are a match made in heaven. We’ve picked out three of our favourite routes for you – one for every level of difficulty, and all starting right on the Klosterbräu’s doorstep.

Bodenalm – for the leisurely explorer

The Bodenalm, the lowest-lying Alpine pasture in the Karwendel range, is proof that 8.5 kilometres and 120 metres of ascent can make for a thoroughly satisfying day of hiking. Around two and a half hours on foot, and pushchair-friendly to boot – and at the end, Alpine cheese, barrel-churned butter, and a hearty Tyrolean cold platter await.

• Ideal for: families with children, half-day walkers, and anyone who prefers a slower pace
• Distance from Seefeld: set off on foot straight from the hotel

Eppzirler Alm – for the endurance hiker

The Eppzirler Alm, at 1,459 metres above sea level, ranks among the loveliest mountain huts in the Karwendel. It stays open until the end of October and serves specialities from its own farm. Measuring 12.5 kilometres, with 450 metres of ascent, and taking around 4.5 hours, this route fills the day – and you’ll have well and truly earned your appetite.

• Ideal for: ambitious recreational hikers and Karwendel devotees
• Distance from Seefeld: approx. 6 km to Gießenbach station / around 10 minutes by train or car

Königstour – for the alpinist

The Königstour – the “King’s Route” – fully lives up to its name: five kilometres of ridge, 500 metres of ascent, and three hours along the crest, with the Seefelder Spitze (2,220 m) and the Reither Spitze (2,374 m) as its two highlights, plus cable-secured sections and a metal ladder just below the summit. For a well-earned stop, we recommend our mountain hut, the Reitherjochalm.

• Ideal for: sure-footed mountaineers, peak-baggers, and fit alpinists
• Distance from Seefeld: approx. 1.5 km to the Rosshütte valley station

Back at the Klosterbräu, treat your tired body to 3,500 square metres of wellness, seven themed saunas, and a beer fountain, all within our 500-year-old walls – the perfect setting to round off an autumn day on the plateau.
