Getting ready for a mountain summer…
… begins in Seefeld this spring!
The long wait is over. Trails across the Seefeld Plateau are opening for the season, and the early weeks of spring are a prime time to build your fitness for the more arduous summer hikes.
The summit hikes around the Klosterbräu must wait for summer. Spring on the Seefeld Plateau is all about easing back in – relaxed trail days, fresh air, and getting your legs in shape for the longer treks. Consider it your warm-up act for the 2026 season.
The circular hike around the Gschwandtkopf is one of our first recommendations for the season. Seefeld’s own mountain comes alive in spring, with the larches just starting to turn green and sweeping views across the Inntal valley to the Mieming Range. It’s a great first outing to shake off the winter blues and see where your fitness stands.
Hike information:
- Distance: approx. 10.6 kilometres
- Elevation gain: 290 metres
- Duration: 3.5 hours
- Difficulty: moderate
At 1,510 metres above sea level, the Brunschkopf’s modest elevation means it is one of the first peaks to clear of snow each spring. The quickest way up starts at the Seekirchl, winds through the Geiernest, and brings you to the summit viewing platform in about an hour and a half.
Hike information:
- Distance: approx. 9 kilometres
- Elevation gain: 350 metres
- Duration: 2.5 hours
- Difficulty: moderate
Build your stamina now.
Spring on the plateau is the best way to prepare for the mountain season ahead. At 1,200 metres above sea level, the altitude gives your cardiovascular system a gentle workout, while the plateau’s steady climbs do the work on your quads and calves. Start with the flatter loop trails and build up your distance and elevation gains week by week.
Don’t skip the gear check!
If your hiking boots spent the winter in the back of your closet, give them a proper once-over before you head out. Check the soles for wear and make sure the membrane is still waterproof. Weather on the high plateau can be very changeable in spring – changing faster than in the valley – so a solid layering system is non-negotiable. One more thing: a pair of telescopic trekking poles will save your knees on the descents, especially early in the season when your legs might need a little extra support.
Summer goals in sight
If you train regularly in spring, both in the valley and on the snow-free mountain trails, you will be ready to tackle the Seefelder Spitze or the Karwendel High Trail by July. These hikes call for sure-footedness, a head for heights, and a level of stamina that makes four to five hours of ascent feel manageable. The time to lay the foundations for your mountain summer is now – on the trails that begin right on the Klosterbräu’s doorstep.
Dear Klosterbräu Family,
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to EVERYONE for the countless messages and the incredible outpouring of support. Please know that we are all safe.
At present, we are still in an orientation phase and in close coordination with authorities and partners. As difficult as it is for us to say: based on current information, we unfortunately will not be able to welcome you during the upcoming summer season. Our major goal, however, is to reopen the Klosterbräu at the beginning of December 2026. We are currently contacting all reservations that fall within this period. Thank you for your patience.
We are doing everything in our power—with full commitment, day by day—to make this possible. Over the course of the summer, we will be able to better assess whether this timeline can be met.
To stay closely connected with us, we warmly invite you to follow our latest updates via our WhatsApp channel, Instagram, Facebook, or by subscribing to our newsletter.
There is one thing we can say with full conviction:
Alongside the necessary reconstruction work, we will also bring our heartfelt projects to life—
including the expansion of the wellness area, a new natural swimming pond, new rooms, and the renovation of the existing spa.
Something new is being created—while at the same time preserving what lies at the very heart of the Klosterbräu.
Because we know:
What truly lives within the Klosterbräu cannot be taken by fire—rooted in its history, new beauty will rise from the ashes.
With warm regards
Your hosts
